R&M develops new insulation systems LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is an energy source of the future. Reducing its volume to sixth-hundredths of the original volume, via cooling down to -163°C, enables cost-effective storage and transport of this gas.
Thanks to the already existing expertise in the area of LNG insulation systems, the Research and Development department at R&M Ship Technologies GmbH has been commissioned to develop further insulation systems in cooperation with other companies and research institutes. The storage and transport of gases requires a sophisticated insulation with extremely high system safety.
Since 2009, R&M has been conducting tests in this project on different LNG pipeline insulation systems at its own LNG pipeline test stand, under real cooling processes down to -196°C.
With this research work, R&M Ship Technologies GmbH is creating an important foundation for expanding the company's market position in LNG pipeline insulation systems.
