Port of Hamburg looks back on a successful visit to TransRussia 2009
From 21 to 24 April 2009, Port of Hamburg Marketing presented Hamburg's port industry on a shared stand at the TransRussia 2009 in Moscow for the tenth time, this continuity underlining yet again the importance of Russia for Hamburg's foreign trade as a port and logistics centre.
Even if the effects of the global economic crisis on the development of seaborne foreign trade have made themselves felt, the mood of visitors and exhibitors during the trade fair was held to be altogether positive. This was particularly the case with the five companies exhibiting on the Port of Hamburg stand (CBT Logistics GmbH, Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg GmbH, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, POLZUG Intermodal GmbH and TCO Transcargo GmbH). All of them showed extreme satisfaction with the course of the event, and reported that they had repeatedly found a basically positive mood in their business partners and Russian industry generally. The Port of Hamburg stand was located on a section of the German Pavilion, and was one of the most visited stands at the trade fair. The event succeeded in positioning the Port of Hamburg as the leading logistics hub in northern Europe.
The importance of the trade fair for Hamburg's port industry was underlined by the attendance of Axel Gedaschko, Hamburg's Senator for Economy and Labour Affairs. The senator opened the trade fair as one of a top-ranking international delegation, and gave numerous interviews at the Port of Hamburg stand.
‘As far as we can see today, and based on the experience of this year's trade fair, the conclusion is obvious - we'll be coming back next year,' said the chairman of Port of Hamburg Marketing Claudia Roller, commenting on the success of the event.
