New husbandry formula for ships agents has customer appealWilhelmsen Ships Service's concept for worldwide consistent agency services is winning more customers May 14, 2009 - Three companies have signed up for Wilhelmsen Ships Service's agreements for worldwide husbandry services, including ESM Esmeralda Shipmanagement Ltd. and Lydia Mar Shipping. The worldwide service agreements ensure that their vessels will receive a consistent treatment in every port they visit. The service agreements result from a drive in Wilhelmsen Ships Service to raise the level of delivery in all offices to the standard of the best. After identifying the specific services that each office was offering, the service performance throughout the company's network was streamlined based on best practice and entered as workflow maps into the company-wide management system known as GIMS. Wilhelmsen Ships Service raised the level of delivery by continuous training in these processes and company values. ESM Esmeralda Shipmanagement Ltd is a crew management company with headquarter in Limassol, Cyprus. With vessels trading worldwide, with special emphasis on West Africa, Asia and the Mediterranean, having a reliable global supplier of husbandry services suits their operations very well. Lydia Mar Shipping, a crew management company headquartered in Athens, Greece, described the benefits of working in this way. "In addition to getting predictable level of services worldwide, this service agreement allows us to pre-select which services we will receive in every port we visit," said Mr. Stefan Chachamopoulos, Operating Manager for Lydia Mar. "We have agreed key performance indicators with Wilhelmsen Ships Service to ensure that we get the high quality services we expect. We also have a dedicated contact person in their Customer Service Centre whom we can call at any time to follow up on our operations worldwide, or to change schedules and requirements." "This allows us to run our worldwide operations much more efficiently, saving us time and money" said Mr Chachamopoulos. The contracts with the three companies are one-year service agreements which will cover over 100 port calls in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa Australia and the Americas. These signings come on top of three major contracts signed earlier this year, and indicate that the Wilhelmsen Ships Service agency strategy is really proving its worth.
