Wilhelmsen Ships service agrees Liferaft Exchange Programme with DelphinNov. 27, 2009 - The world's leading maritime service network Wilhelmsen Ships Service has secured a 5-year agreement with Delphin Kreuzfahrten GmbH to supply 16 liferafts to the MS Delphin cruise liner. The liferafts are being supplied to the Germany-based company as part of Wilhelmsen Ships Service's Liferaft Exchange Programme (LRE).
The LRE programme, a system of exchanging service-due liferafts on the dockside to avoid the delays of servicing, has grown rapidly in popularity across the globe.
The LRE programme takes service-due liferafts off vessels and immediately replaces them with serviced ones. By avoiding a delay period where a vessel would have to wait for a liferaft to be serviced, the system both saves money and increases the operational efficiency of each single vessel. The system ensures that each vessel is always prepared for annual inspection and meets safety legislation "We are delighted that Delphin chose our LRE programme" commented Joachim Poehler, Wilhelmsen Ships Service's Account Manager in Germany. "Delphin were planning to service their existing liferafts but we advised them of the benefits of LRE, and they were happy to adopt this service"
The agreement has been secured due to the very good co-operation between the responsible Account Manager, the responsible Coordinator within the Customer Services Germany Sarah Scharlibbe and the operations in the port of Barcelona with David Cacers, Javier Fernandez and their whole team.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service has disposed of the cruise ship's out of date liferafts and replaced them with the company's Unitor branded ones. Service due date alerts will be handled by Wilhelmsen Ships Service who can exchange liferafts at their port depots around the world. The company currently has 25 liferaft service stations globally Delphin (Dolphin) is one of the operator's flagship vessel, at 157m long and accommodates up to 470 passengers in luxurious surroundings.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service supplies Unitor marine products, technical services, ships agency services and maritime logistics.
