New office for Wilhelmsen Ships Service in Broome, AustraliaDec. 21, 2009 - Wilhelmsen Ships Service has opened its twentieth port office in Australia. The new office is in the remote port of Broome. Over 2000km from Perth and almost 2000km from Darwin, Broome is in close proximity to the rapidly growing oil and gas fields located off the North West coast of Australia which makes it an increasingly important support base for Australia's booming offshore industry.
Establishing an operation in Broome is therefore of strategic importance for Wilhelmsen Ships Service to ensure that the comprehensive coverage of the company's port network continues to be maximised.
The port is also a favoured location on the itinerary of cruise vessels travelling Australia's North West coastline, as well as being Australia's third largest livestock export port, supporting the strong livestock industry in Australia's North West.
The Broome office will be headed by Frank Treasure whose 40 years of maritime industry experience includes a sound knowlege of Wilhelmsen Ships Service's range of Unitor products and of the company's services which include ships agency, technical services and maritime logistics.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service is enthusiastic about playing an active role in shaping the future development of Broome's maritime industry.
"We look forward to providing a friendly and reliable service to all our customers calling in this port" comments Frank, as he commences in this challenging role. The office opened in October.
