Business expands between Wilhelmsen Ships Service and Wan Hai lineMarch 10, 2010 - Wilhelmsen Ships Service in Taiwan has signed a two year contract to supply gases and chemicals to the fleet of one of Asia's leading shipping companies, Wan Hai line.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service will supply gases to 31 vessels and chemicals to the entire Wan Hai fleet of 61 vessels. The agreement is a renewal of a contract which was put up for tender at the end of 2009. Wan Hai decided to stay with Wilhelmsen Ships Service following the successful fulfilment of a one year contract in 2008 involving an order for chemical supply for a couple of vessels. During this period good cooperation and communication by the ships' supplier secured the recent renewal of the much wider agreement. Prior to this period Wilhelmsen Ships Service had started supplying gases to 31 Wan Hai Line vessels in 2006.
Wan Hai saw several advantages in staying with Wilhelmsen Ships Service, because of good communications at a management level, and the company's strong technical background, with worldwide logistics support. The contract was re-secured despite stiff competition from other suppliers.
