Wilhelmsen Ships service supports Cruise West worldwide voyage itinerary
March 16, 2010 - Wilhelmsen Ships Service is to continue its support as Hub Agents to Cruise West for a second voyage as the Seattle based cruise line company beings promoting its 2011/2012 Worldwide Voyages aboard the Spirit of Oceanus.
The extension of the relationship to cover a second world cruise follows Cruise West's original appointment of Wilhelmsen Ships Service for their first new epic world adventure 'Voyages of the Great Explorers', onboard the Spirit of Oceanus in 2010/11.
The hub operation for both itineraries will be run through Wilhelmsen Ships Service's Houston offices in the USA. The hub agency offer includes port call management, disbursement account management and cash management, with an online operational system available for system integration.
Both voyages involve a circumnavigation of the globe made up of 24 distinct voyages (25 in 2011) that can be purchased individually, in multiple segments or the entire circumnavigation. The route will take in Asia to the Mediterranean, Europe to the Americas and through the South Pacific, This project will entail more than 240 port calls for each voyage, for which Wilhelmsen Ships Service will be the primary hub agent and the attending ships agents of record for the majority of port calls that take place.
Bryce Brockway, Cruise West's Vice President of marine operations, explained some of the complexities of the assignment. "Operating a voyage of this magnitude requires working with a top-notch ship agent that is not only qualified, savvy and proven, but understands Cruise West's approach to exploration cruising. Our relationship with Wilhelmsen Ships Service is key to making sure our guests and crew benefit from a seamless experience every time the ship pulls into a new port. Knowing the inner workings of each port of call is essential in making this epic world cruise a success."
"This is a great opportunity to develop this business and our relationship with Cruise West," said Paal Berg, Wilhelmsen Ships Service Account Manager. "We anticipate that further opportunities for cooperation will arise in the future, as Cruise West makes use of our expertise in other fields such as logistics and bunkering, marine products and technical services, which can be coordinated through our worldwide network".
Wilhelmsen Ships Service Houston and Cruise West are already working together to ensure there is a smooth and efficient beginning to their 2010 cruise season. Both companies look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship in this exciting new venture.
