Hyundai Heavy wins Venezuela $160m PPS orderApril 20, 2010 - Hyundai Heavy Industries received a US$160 million order for 120 Packaged Power Stations (PPS) from electricity company Electricidad de Caracas, Venezuela.
Sixty-four units with 109MW total capacity and fifty-six units with 95MW total capacity will be supplied in Moron and Guacara, both in Carabobo state, from August to October 2010. Once operational, the PPSs will produce enough electricity for 200,000 households.
Venezuela selected Hyundai Heavy's PPS for ease of installation, mobility and efficiency. A majority of Venezuela's electricity is produced by hydroelectric plants. These plants are struggling to meet power demands due to the ongoing drought in the country.
Hyundai Heavy's PPS, a containerized diesel generator, uses the exclusive HiMSEN engine as its prime mover and runs on both light and heavy oil.
Hyundai Heavy has exported over 820 units to 19 countries including Brazil, Chile, Cuba and Iraq.
