 Wilhelmsen Ships Service India handles oversize vehicle shipmentAug. 11, 2010 - The Logistics Team at Wilhelmsen Ships Service in Mumbai has just completed the handling of a specialized project of oversized vehicles from Nhava Sheva port which is destined for Dakar in Senegal. The cargo is consigned to the government of Senegal.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service India won the contract through a local bid against major competitors. Altogether, 16 oversized vehicles have been loaded onto nine flat-bed units each 40 foot long making them over-length and over-width in size. Wilhelmsen Ships Service India Logistics team, based in Mumbai, had to submit a unique loading plan in order to obtain the ship owner's approval. The entire vehicle consignment was then loaded onto the flat beds and then transported to the dock side alongside the vessel comfortably without any obstacles.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service India is now becoming a specialist for handling such unique projects and many more are in the pipe line to be handled in near future. The company was able to provide an extremely cost-competitive solution to the customer by successfully loading two vehicles in one flat bed together.
