Wilhelmsen Ships Service at Maritime Awareness Week
Wilhelmsen Ships Service will be participating in the forthcoming Maritime Awareness Week in Hong Kong. The company will play its part in the week by promoting the maritime industry to the Hong Kong community at the Maritime Fair and Open Day in the Government Dockyard at Stonecutters Island, on Saturday 30 October. The week consists of a series of events and seminars ranging from lectures on pollution to careers advice.
Capt. Gur Prasad Kohli, who is the General Manager of Wilhelmsen Ships Service's Hong Kong office is on the organising committee for the event. He explains, "Wilhelmsen Ships Service will have two booths at the event on Saturday which will showcase the company's ships service capabilities in the region. Around 6000 visitors are expected to attend, and there will be around 75 exhibitors present."
Capt. Gur Prasad Kohli also sits on the Port Welfare Committee (PWC) which raises funds for the Sailors' Home and Missions to Seamen, the Danish Seamen's Church, and Distressed Seafarers in Hong Kong. The PWC is organising a Charity dinner and auction of Maritime memorabilia on 28 October to commemorate the International Year of the Seafarer and raise funds for the welfare of visiting seafarers to Hong Kong.
