Press Release

Three rigs departed

While the marketing department of the yard is in talks with owners regarding the possible further contracts for offshore mobile units maintenance, repairs, upgrading or conversions, the majority of such floating units serviced over the recent months at Remontowa have just left after successful redelivery to their owners.

Before recent departure of three rigs as many as four such offshore mobile units have been serviced at "Remontowa" simultaneously (on the picture below), which is the case for the first time not only at any Polish yard, but most likely, also in the whole Baltic Sea region.

First, mid May 2011, the accommodation and workshop semi-sub Safe Bristolia has been towed out from Gdansk Shiprepair Yard "Remontowa" SA and the port of Gdansk. It now appears the semi-sub unit will be deployed offshore Mexico, as the Owner, Prosafe, has been awarded a Letter of Intent by Interpetroleum Services Limited for a bareboat contract for the Safe Bristolia. The rig, together with two other ones, is going to be used at Pemex' Cantarell field in Mexico. The Safe Bristolia bareboat contract ends around end-March 2013. Prosafe is the world's leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation/service rigs. Operating profit reached USD 221.1 million in 2010. The company operates globally, employs 500 people and is headquartered in Larnaca, Cyprus. Prosafe is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange with ticker code PRS.

Later, day after day - on 26th and 27th May, two semi-submersible drilling rigs departed from Gdańsk and Poland's premier shiprepair and conversion yard "Remontowa", namely: Wilphoenix (ex Arctic II) and Wilhunter (ex Arctic IV), both operated by Awilco Drilling Ltd. Wilphoenix has had the most extensive range of works executed at "Remontowa", which was discussed elsewhere on this website before. As revealed by the rig's Owner in Aberdeen late April, Awilco Drilling Plc has signed a drilling contract with MPX North Sea Ltd for 1 firm well and 1 optional well, representing the second and third well of the SPD multi-client, multi-well 2011 drilling programme. The contract value for the firm part is approximately USD 11 million. The contract, utilizing the WilHunter semi-sub, is expected to commence early July 2011. The rig has been recently undergoing its 5 yearly Special Periodic Survey and an accommodation upgrade at Gdansk Shiprepair Yard "Remontowa" SA.

WilHunter is one of Awilco Drilling's two Enhanced Pacesetter semi-submersibles and is equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1500 ft. Recent departure of three offshore units leaves at "Remontowa" only one, last rig, for now - before further mobile offshore units come. Atlantic Rotterdam self-elevating platform is practically ready for delivery to Customer's satisfaction, however the rig is still at the yard awaiting possible decision on further works ordered. If contract extension comes to fruition, Atlantic Rotterdam will have its accommodation block modified and modernized.
