 Hyundai Heavy Names Five Large ContainershipsMarch 10, 2014 - Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the world’s biggest shipbuilder today announced that it set a new daily naming ceremony record by naming five containerships ordered from Enesel on a single day.
In a simultaneous naming ceremony attended by Mr. Nikolas Lemos, Chairman of Enesel; Mr. Kim Oi-hyun, President & CEO of Hyundai Heavy Industries; and other 130 participants at HHI’s yard in Ulsan, South Korea, the sponsors including Mrs. Irini N. Lemos, wife of Mr. Nikolas Lemos and four other ladies, named three 10,500TEU containerships and two 13,800TEU containerships for the Greek owner. The large boxships are scheduled to be delivered from March 20 to early June this year.
Last year, HHI held 45 naming ceremonies for 55 ships. Hyundai Heavy Industries’ naming ceremony record stands at 12 ships per month and 10 ships per week set on October 2008 and June 2010 respectively.
