Baltika Ice Trials
The revolutionary icebreaker Baltika has completed its ice trials in the Gulf of Ob in the Kara Sea with exceedingly positive results. This innovative vessel, based on the oblique Aker ARC 100 design by Aker Arctic is the first vessel in the world capable of opening a wide channel in ice by operating sideways in oblique icebreaking mode.
Steerprop is proud to have delivered main propulsion to the Baltika in the form of three SP 60 PULL azimuth propulsors. Each propulsor has a power rating of 2,5 MW in the RMRS Icebreaker 6 ice-class.
